A crowd of over 40,000 people watched the United States Men’s National Team take on Panama in a 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier and the Seattle crowd wasn’t disappointed. Actually, the fans at CenturyLink Field gave an enthusiastic performance that was one of the most impressive USMNT crowds I’ve ever seen.

Jozy Altidore opened scoring in the 36th minute and sent the Seattle crowd into a frenzy, giving the Americans a 1-0 lead. It was Altidore’s third consecutive International goal (Germany, Jamaica, Panama) after going on a long scoreless drought for his country. The play was beautifully set up by Michael Bradley, as he made a great pass to Fabian Johnson, who delivered a perfect cross to Altidore.

The United States took a 1-0 lead into halftime and never looked back, as Geoff Cameron sent a wonderful, over the top pass to Eddie Johnson for a 53rd minute goal to basically seal the deal. DeMarcus Beasley had a strong game for the USA and Tim Howard did his job in net, providing a shutout for his side in a 2-0 victory.

It was a magnificent game to watch, there was tremendous energy all night from the CenturyLink crowd and the USMNT. The win means that USA stands alone in first place for the CONCACAF region of 2014 World Cup Qualifying.

Other CONCACAF games were played the night of June 11th, as Mexico yet again, played to a scoreless draw at home against Costa Rica and Honduras defeated Jamaica, 2-0.

The United States soccer team plays their next 2014 World Cup Qualifier on June 18th, against Honduras. If Americans weren’t happy with USMNT head coach, Jürgen Klinsmann, they should be now

The top three teams if the CONCACAF region qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, while fourth place goes into a playoff one New Zealand.
